Our Philosophy

Delivering a strong defense—it’s standard practice.

Founded in 1983 and named after Lee A. Hardison Jr., a well-known general civil and criminal attorney in Memphis for nearly 50 years, The Hardison Law Firm maintains a tradition of high-quality, aggressive representation in a variety of litigation areas. Whether it’s medical malpractice defense, employment law, contract law, real estate/construction issues or family law, Hardison takes a common sense approach to its clients' needs, while maintaining awareness of its clients’ economic concerns.

Counseling clients in three states—from one convenient office.

Headquartered in Peabody Place’s Pembroke Square at the former site of one of Memphis’ oldest department stores, Hardison is rich in history and tradition, much like our city we call home.

Our firm admires Memphis for its rich cultural significance, position as a transportation hub, booming industrial and biomedical communities, and close proximity to University of Memphis’ very reputable Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

Though located in the heart of downtown Memphis, Hardison serves proudly the tri-state area, with a concentration of clients outside of Memphis in eastern Arkansas and northern Mississippi. The firm's lawyers are licensed in the U.S. District Courts to operate in all of Hardison’s practice areas across the Mid-South. Oftentimes, Mississippi and Arkansas clients can more easily access Hardison’s attorneys just over the stateline as opposed to working with firms in their own states.

Giving expert representation—whatever the case.

Various members of the firm have considerable appellate experience in both state and federal courts. Distinctions earned by two of Hardison’s principals include state certification as civil trial specialist and fellowship in The American College of Trial Lawyers; one of the firm's principals is further state-certified as a medical malpractice specialist. The firm represents The Regional Medical Center at Memphis, Delta Medical Center, Tenet Healthcare Corporation and Saint Francis Hospitals in Memphis and Bartlett, Tennessee. The firm's concentration on medical malpractice defense provides ready access to medical experts for other types of cases.

Hardison has received numerous awards from Memphis Area Legal Services, the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association for its pro bono publico work and its efforts to increase access to justice. The firm’s attorneys are professionally and personally involved in the community, and Hardison is continually recognized for its contributions in the area.
